Well, Cardinal Wolsey is, anyway…
“Me & my boats – Nuns, Normandy and Nightlife.”
Page 20 in the print edition.
Online version here. No log-in or any such silliness required.
I think that the print version is available in all decent magazine emporia.
S, E, and J – I’ve got a copy for each of you chaps already, will post them to you when can. π
Our notoriety spreads. Shame about where they put the staple though…
Chin-chin,
Ian H., and nb Cardinal Wolsey.
We miss the boat and puttering up to Stratford in Avon.

As Confucius once said, while punting, ‘…there is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats…’ π

and we were told ‘boating was a contact sport’.
Happy memories.

I hope such fame won’t go to the Cardinal’s … ahem, head. π

Not to my head, anyway, for that is always under no uncertain lock and key (unless one of the midshipmen is in there, cleaning the place)… π

So, which of you is the more famous now – you or the Cardinal?

It’s all a question of wants – the Cardinal is wanted for photoshoots and interviews, I’m just wanted by INTERPOL. π

Too kind, sir, too kind! I have been running around the county, buying up each and every copy that I can find… I’ll make ’em double the print run if it’s the last thing that I do. π

Oh dear!!!! That link requires one to sign an OK to adding something or other. I don’t like such “in your face” do-this-or-else things. So I didn’t get to read it.
I’m sure it is funny. And I applaud your notoriety!

Ah, “cookies”, I suspect. The little bits of tracking nonsense that 99.99% of websites put onto your computer, like some cat marking its territory. The English parliament, in its (questionable) wisdom, has implemented European regulations requiring all websites within the greasy purview of Brussels PLC to ask now before storing a “cookie” (horrid name!) on your device. I think that the r.o.w. (Rest Of the World) just bungs them on without asking… I usually ignore the invitation, or click “no, I do not agree”, and the websites let you carry on anyway. π
At least, that’s all that it should have been. You didn’t get the pop-up screen about the nude photographs and the money to be left on the park bench again, did you?

Excellent piece and a far cry now from that first trip out of the Marina funny though it was – is selling Avon Cosmetics to suppliment your income? A great feature and it should please my following – err I mean your following – I’m even beginning to get Twitter followers from the boat building world!

Avon cosmetics? I am more of a Pataks cosmetics chap really! I did wonder about some sort of travelling show with badgers, rings of fire, whips and chairs, that sort of thing. What do you think would be the hourly rate of pay for a trained badger these days, including bed and board?

An excellent article, Mr. Ian – I tried to leave a comment, but found Iβd have to join up, and jump into, the hectic Narrow-boating scene. Since, in my case, the nearest water deep enough for a boat of any description is the Sea, about 16 miles away, I declined the kind offer.
I will, however, be reblogging this post later today instead. π

Ah – I had forgotten about the commenting jiggery-pokery, many thanks for the heads-up, and many thanks for trying too! I had all but forgotten that this article was in the pipeline, it was a nice surprise today to find myself exposed on the counter of the marina chandlery, so to speak… π
